Log Cabin block - Wishes Quilt Along

As you can imagine life is crazy with a newborn around... but, it's a very joyful time too. I've been able to spend a lot of time with my baby since I've my parents helping me. Just a blessing!

So, why complicate things? All I could make this week was this very straight forward log cabin block from Wishes Quilt Along. I'm sure I didn't spend an hour on this even with my three years old daughter messing my fabrics (read playing) and my newborn sleeping (ok, sometimes crying too) next to us.

Below, you can see all of my blocks so far. I like to pull them out and look at them every time I'm making a new one. It's a big motivation to keep the quilt alon up!

B is for...

A very quick post this time and it's not about quilting (Sorry! But, it's so worth it! promise). If you're are following my blog you know that one week ago I was more than 40 weeks pregnant waiting anxiously for my baby boy... and making a lot of English paper piecing hexagons (check my grandmother flower's garden made with mini charm packs)!

Well, I've the news!!! The biggest one ever...
He is here (born on April 26 at (9:34pm)!

One day before he was born I finished this very simple embroidery using chain stitch. BTW, have you notice how embroidering and quilting are going together lately?) For now, look for chain stitch at the web. You'll be overwhelmed by the great tutorials.

I came out with this letter style based on a metal letter frame sold by the store Restauration Hardware Baby&Child. I just drew it freely on a paper. Then I placed the paper under the fabric and drew the letter on the fabric with a pencil. It was so easy to embroidery it with no marks at the end.

If you're are wondering, yes, B is for baby, but mostly for Benicio.

(Hopefully I'm gonna update this post with a picture of him, wearing the shirt. Thanks for being along, and thank you for all the warm messages in my earlier post...)
